So great. Very sweet and clever little birthday story with an eclectic cast of goofy good-natured characters. Funny and relatable with excellent art and an excellent invisible dog.

Oliver Jeffers is a favorite of mine, you probably know him from The Day The Crayons Quit, but I really loved last year's Dictionary Story.

The Wound by Emma Adbage, translated by Melissa Bowers

Another wonderful translated picture book for 2025. Very authentic childhood tale about a skinned knee. Vibes of the translation evoke in me the work of Maira Kalman in the best way, really captures the voice of a little kid. Great oddball expressive human-made art. Loved it.
